iFile Help with txt editor

Hello all, my iPhone 5 is jailbroken and I am having trouble using iFile. I open the program and any txt file I open I am unable to read. All the text is scrambled and looks like: "{v¢MÆ3‡Æ·±\Ê°`ÎÌ+}8@{tDl8@{÷¢|ë&›Ô´«BЪ|" but with a hole lot more special characters. I have searched all over and cannot find a solution.

Is this directly in iFile? Or is it on your computer. In many cases (particularly plists), they appear in readable text in iFile, but when transferred to a computer and opening it with just a plain text editor, it will show up as jumbled text. If you transfer it back, in some cases, it will still appeared jumbled even though it's the same file that you extracted to your computer.
