An interesting choice by TV show and movie streaming giant Hulu was made today. The company has update its iOS application allowing users to sign up for Hulu Plus subscriptions via in-app purchase. Previously users would be redirected to the web through the app where they would have to sign up for Hulu Plus, but now everything is done in-house through iTunes.

This is interesting since Apple takes a 30 percent cut of all purchase done through iTunes and the App Store, including micro-transactions such as this one. Since Hulu charges about $8 for it's premium Plus plan, this means that Apple will make $2.40 for every account that signs up.

Since Hulu is one of the largest streaming services out there, next to Netflix, we're sure that Apple will make a pretty penny off of this change the company has made. Those of you who still haven't checked out the Hulu app, lots of TV shows and movies are available without a subscription. The Hulu app can be downloaded from the App Store to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad for free.
