How to refresh thumbnails?

Is it possible to refresh or remove thumbnails in the Photos app, on request? Namely, if I copy photos from iPhone to laptop (using e.g. iFunbox), and delete them with iFunbox, the thumbnails will still be shown in the Photos app later on (except when you tap such a photo, only a tiny or enlarged tiny image will be displayed). So far the only workaround I could think of was deleting these remnants in Photos app, or using the Photos app exclusively to delete photos (after they have been copied to the computer).

Mine doesn't do that and I offload my photos with iPhoto. The only thing that saves is photo stream. That I always have to go back over and delete myself.
