The gold-colored iPhone 5s is definitely the most lusted for Apple smartphone at the moment. The new color makes the iPhone 5s look stunning while adding a luxurious feel to it. And now that such a big market like China has opened up for Apple, it’s only natural to see a high demand for it.

Within about 30 minutes of the iPhone 5s going on sale, the availability of the gold color was pushed back to October, without an exact date being given. Retailers seem to be better prepared than Apple but they are also selling out very quickly.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, in order to cope with the high demand, Apple has asked its suppliers to increase production of the gold-colored iPhone 5s by a third. The least demanded color option at the moment seems to be space grey, as the white model is also out of stock. It will be really interesting to see just how many gold iPhone 5s units will Apple manage to sell.

The WSJ has interviewed TV-station employee Lian Jiyu about his iPhone 5s color choice and he said the following:

“I don’t care what’s inside the device. Chinese people like gold.”

We have recently shared the news regarding the iPhone sales estimate over the launch weekend. The most optimistic estimates suggested Apple could sell as much as 8 million new iPhones. Now, looking at the high demand of the gold iPhone 5s, this doesn’t seem like a farfetched number anymore.
