Hears a rumor

I was wondering if any one else has heard this rumor. Not the rumor yet. The only way you can tell if in 4g zone right now is down loading an speed test app of sorts I use speedtest.net. Any way the rumors is that apple is actually going to comply with the cellphone company and make it show the 4g symbol up top where the 3G currently is showing. Just wondering.

I guess Apple complied with the the cellphone companies. It's seems though even in three g spots it still shows 4g some type of fluke?

It is not a rumor. With iPhone 4S on iOS 5.1, if you are on the AT&T network and within their HSPA+ zones (that AT&T has decided is close to 4G), your iPhone will show that 4G in the status bar.

It's a marketing gimmick brought to you by both Apple and AT&T.

YUP. Mickry 330 is right. No current iPhone model supports 4GLTE. Like Mickey said..............A marketing gimmick. plus the towers themselves could not make the 4G icon show............Those icons are built into the software.
