As one of the few people to receive my Apple Watch Sport ahead of my estimated shipping date, I consider myself lucky. If you or anyone you know attempted to pre-order an Apple Watch on April 10, you should already be aware of the mass-shortage of supply for the device.

According to a new post from The Wall Street Journal, sources claim that the Apple Watch Taptic Engine seems to be at fault for the shortage. The sources state that mass-production of the Engines began in February, however a good amount of the components didn't pass quality testing.

The Apple Watch Taptic Engine is used for the Force Touch feature, which determines how much force the wearer is putting into a tap or hold. Whether the claim is true or not, Apple has received tons of criticism regarding the way the fruit company handled the launch.
