The Google Blog today announced the release of Google Places with Hotpot for iPhone to the App Store. The app lets you search for places near to your current location, with personalised results based on places that you’ve rated. Google gets you started with several pre-installed popular search categories, and you can then customise the list by adding your own favourite searches.

Places is also designed to make it as easy as pie (sorry!) for you to rate a place via your iPhone when you’re there, by simply starting the app and selecting “Rate Now”. Places will then use your location to guess your current place, and will even let you send an instant Hotpot review on the spot. And of course the more places you rate, the more the app will get to know your personal tastes and the more accurate your personally tailored recommendations will be.
