My friend used to have an iPhone and just switched to the new Nokia windows phone (very cool btw). Every time I text him now he is getting the texts in his iMessages in his iPad and they are not going to his text messages on his cell phone where he wants them. How can he disassociate his iMessage with his phone number?

Has he gone onto his ipad settings to uncheck his phone number? That should eliminate receiving iMessages from you to his iPad.
He needs to go to Settings - iMessage - send & receive - uncheck his phone number.
Have him try that and see if it works.
