Yesterday, we reported that one developer managed to get an open-source copy of the popular endless runner game Canabalt working on an Apple Watch. Today, things get a little more "flappy".

Developer Hamza Sood managed to create a clone of last year's popular Flappy Bird game running on his wrist. The clone uses SpriteKit to run native on the Apple Watch, a feature coming in watchOS 2 later this year. Sood posted a video of the game running on his Apple Watch, showcasing that native apps run very smooth and load quickly, compared to those streaming from an iPhone.

In the video you can see that the clone implements touch controls, but alternatively players can also use the Digital Crown to control the bird. Additionally the developer managed to add game sounds, outputting from the Apple Watch's own speaker.

Check out the video here and let us know if you think running games on the Apple Watch natively will make a big difference in Apple Watch gaming.
