My settings are all fine... But I have had to set up a gmail account to send email. Receiving is no problem, just sending.

I am 4.3.5

Gmail works fine but no being able to send from other accounts was not what I bought the device for.

I am a simpleton so any help in ordinary non jargon language would very helpful

I don't understand the issue you are having with your phone. If you are able to receive email, then you should be able to send emails. But what domain is it? Gmail? Yahoo? Msn? Is it an exchange setup you've made or a simple setup with default settings?

He's probably trying to set up a local account, not a web based account, I am guessing.

Try setting your phone to use gmail for the outgoing server mail for the account you are trying to set up. Under "outgoing server", there is a place to turn gmail server on.

Not sure if that will work, but give it a try.
