Ditto is Finally Found in Pokémon Go!

The Ditto mystery is finally solved! Just as the Thanksgiving worldwide Pokémon Go event kicks off, Niantic has announced that the illustrious Professor Willow has found Ditto, and now trainers all over the world have the chance to catch the most famous pink blob since Kirby.

As you might expect with Ditto, it doesn’t just appear in the wild like a regular Pokémon, but in fact disguises itself as other Pokémon. So when you capture your umpteenth Pidgey, it might suddenly reveal itself as Ditto. And once a Ditto in a specific area has been spotted by one trainer, it will then be revealed to other Trainers in the area as well.

Ditto also interacts differently when training and battling in Gyms. It will copy the appearance, type, and moves of the first Pokémon that it meets, and will remain like that throughout the duration of the rest of the gym battles.

Meanwhile, in non-Ditto news, Niantic has also announced that it has expanded its beta testing of the Nearby feature to all states to the west of the Mississippi River (but not Hawaii and Alaska) in the USA, as well as British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Western half of Ontario in Canada, and all parts of Australia.

“Our first six months has been nothing short of exciting and your continued support has been inspiring,” said the Pokémon Go team at Niantic. “We have a lot of content, features, and functionality that we will be implementing over the coming months and years. Our goal is to always improve on existing features where we can while also releasing exciting new content and functionality.”
