Im pretty sure most of iPhone enthusiasts have heard about this new Siri port called H1 Siri and are terribly excited about it, but as it often happens in life, some bubbles are meant to burst. The new app has been released in the citadel of all jailbreak called Cydia. Its purpose is to bring Siri to the iPhone 4 thats running on iOS 5 and iOS 5.01. Only last week, did we witness another little jailbreak attempt with Siri0us that brought Siris Dictation feature on the non 4S devices. But lots of developers have noted that the only way to get the Siri functionality on the iPhone 4 is to use actual code from the iPhone 4S. Which is basically illegal.
The group of hackers that released this app call themselves CD-Dev Team but be advised that this procedure might prove very dangerous and even fatal to your phone. Its also not entirely clear how it works, but according to initial reports it seems like once installed, the Siri port uses a proxy server which handles the requests instead of the Apple servers. But, there have been also numerous complaints about the fact that Siri seems to be working only from time to time, due to serious connectivity issues.
Another problem after installing the app appears to be loosing the ability to record video, not being able to use apps, and most importantly restoring when you decide to uninstall H1Siri through Cydia. There are also issues with random reboots, camera failure, Setting troubles, freezing and a whole lot more. Even renowned iPhone Dev Team hacker Chpwn advises users not to risk installing this tweak saying that if you go ahead and use a proxy to access Siri, you may be sending your Email, SMS, Calendar, Contacts, Location your whole life, through that server. But of course its up to you if you want to accept that risk and chose to violate copyright law to obtain the needed files.
