Pocketnow.com has a great scoop today featuring what could possibly be the first test photo to be taken with an iPhone 5. The website says that it discovered the photograph when looking for pictures to use on its “Test Photo” feature, which contains pictures taken by unreleased phones. The photo of a nice plate of sushi that Pocketnow.com found was said to have been taken by an iPhone 4, but the website did a little more digging and found that although the picture has been cropped to 2235x2291 or 5.12 megapixels, the original picture before it was cropped was 3264x2448 or nearly 8 megapixels. Also, the lens was stated to be a 4.3mm f/2.8, which would be superior to the iPhone 4’s lens. And as if that wasn’t proof enough, the photo was apparently by an Apple engineer one lunchtime. So, all that evidence points to this being a picture taken with the upcoming iPhone 5. However, Pocketnow.com does add a note of caution, saying that they have been fooled in the past by a picture’s EXIF data being altered by software, and that may have happened in this case, but we’ll soon find out!
