The App Store is celebrating its fifth birthday this week, and it seems that one of the ways in which Apple has decided to mark this milestone is by giving away some of the most popular and critically acclaimed games and other apps in the App Store for free! Reporting on the giveaway, Pocket Gamer writes that the games that you can currently download for absolutely nothing include the likes of Tiny Wings, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Where’s My Water? Infinity Blade II, and Badland. Apple has yet to make any official announcement about the big App Store anniversary giveaway, and there does not yet appear to be a definitive list of free games, but lots of websites, including The Verge, for example, are listing as many as they can find, and also suggesting the best of the free apps that are worth downloading. Possibly the best value of all, as picked up on by The Verge, is Traktor DJ, which normally costs $19.99, and which their reviewer referred to as “one of those apps that sells the entire idea of the iPad itself.”

This is one story that is bound to grow as more free apps are added throughout the week, so be sure to check the App Store often.
