Hey guys, I have been given an iphone 3gs, it was running fine on 6.1.3, then out of nowhere it just turned off, now it won't turn back on unless its in recovery mode (can start with apple logo, but turns off after around 10secs) I also tried to restore in itunes, it gets to the "verifying restore with apple" then the phone shuts off itunes is stuck trying to verify it when its not connected anymore..

Please help me, I have tried a number of things, using Irecovery, editing the host file etc, and i'm at the end of my wick, I'm about to give up and throw it in the trash :(

still didn't work, got further though, then it made the USB plugged in noise a couple of times then screen flashed on black then turned off, itunes is still trying to verify restore with apple...

Uninstall iTunes 11.1, and remove the locally cached libraries and such. Then install a copy of iTunes 11.0.5 and try again.

and where can I get itunes 11.0.5? The newest version other than the one I have is 10.7 :/

just did what you said and getting error 3194, modified host file and turned off firewall, still same thing :(

Now I have managed to get it to get up to verifying restore with apple,in dfu mode, with TSS server in tinyumbrella running, no error codes but then the phone turns off, makes the usb unplugged noise, then plugged in noise, then it repeats this. meanwhile itunes is still trying to verify the restore..

Don't use TSS. It's only necessary when installing a custom IPSW, and even then, you can use RedSn0w instead. Navigate to your host file again. Edit out any Apple hosts, delete the host.umbrella file in the same directory as your host file, flush your DNS, and retry.

iTunes 11.0.5's download is below

Mac OSX: https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/iT...unes11.0.5.dmg

Windows 32-bits: https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/iT...TunesSetup.exe

Windows 64-bits: https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/iT...nes64Setup.exe

Woops sorry willerz2, I didn't see you had replied. I'm out of town at the moment and don't have my 3GS with me, so I'll try tgat when I get home and let you know the outcome, cheers :)

still did the same thing but instead, this time when it was verifying, it came up with a black screen then turned off
