my iphone 7 wont accept my apple ID and password. How can I change the password? If I go to change password it asks me my phone number, then it says it is an invalid phone number, which is nonsense.

I would contact Apple Support. There is an app for this.

Try this.......

On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iOS 10.3 or later

1. Tap Settings > [your name] > Password & Security.
2. Tap Change Password.
   
   
3. Enter your current password or device passcode, then enter a new password and confirm the new password.
   
4. Tap Change or Change Password.
5. Sign in with your new Apple ID password to access Apple features and services.

I cant find that screen. I touch Settings and I get a screen saying my name then, Name, Phone Numbers, Email Password & Security, Payment and Shipping. I touch Passwords and Security and it asks me to Sign In to icloud and wants my password, which of course doesn't work. So I get nowhere. My phone wont accept my old password, so any fix which requires me to enter a password will not work.
