Can something happen to contacts' attachments?

I sync my Outlook Contacts with iPhone and iPad. Certain contacts have attachments in their "rich text" Notes field in Outlook (such as scanned business cards, automatically added birthday "appointment" attachments, etc.). I noticed these attachments are not carried over to iDevices. That's not a problem per se, but I was wondering - can something happen to these data in case you edit such a contact on an iDevice (e.g. the attachment gets deleted upon next sync in Outlook, or something similar)?
