You don't need to tether to watch Netflix, just go to their site on the Chromebook and watch. No problem.

I do not have a wifi connection for my chromebook but have been watching netflix on my iphone5

that is what I want to do. I have been looking all over the internet for how to do that and cannot find anything.

Settings>Personal Hotspot>ON. But you will have to have it set up with your carrier. There is usually an extra fee.
