Hey guys! i got my new Iphone 4 a few weeks ago and i´m loving it!
Since its a pretty expensive little piece of tec i decided to get a bumper for it.
However! I feel like the bumper took away the "smoothness" of the apple product :/
I want to keep my phone safe from all sorts of damage and whatever, so should i try an invisibile shield?
Do any of you have any experiences with it? any recommendations for the best ones maybe?

Thanks in advance!

Neither of those will save your phone from damage. I'd suggest looking into either the otter box defender, griffin survivor or the life proof case..the life proof is waterproof...

I agree: the Otterbox rules. That was proved this afternoon. Don't ask!

If you go with a case that has a built in screen, be sure to install an anti-glare screen protector on your iPhone first. This prevents the "water mark" problem from occuring.

I can also recommend either the Otterbox Defender or the Griffin Survivor over the others out there with built-in screen protectors.

My favorite is the Seidio Convert, however it does not have a built-in screen protector.

I love the otterbox built in screen protector! No glare, no bubbles, no watermarks just a nice clean smooth screen. It's why I bought the otterbox in the first place. I was tired of putting on the separate screen protectors and having bubbles and dirt and hairs etc. underneath . I love the Otterbox Defender!

As a field engineer running my own business I tend to be hard on portable devices like phones, so I always have protective cases usually leather flips.

Since having an iPhone 4 (12 months now) i have tried several types including one with a blue tooth keyboard built in, leather cases tend to stretch and stitching fails, 1st hard case was a gear4 crystal case, this offers all round protection (looks same as the video security cases) while good against dropping it suffers dust ingress and scratches.

I ride motor bikes in the UK, iPhone4 and water are not a good partnership, I bought the Griffin Survivor which is a ruggedised military grade (as is Otterbox) not waterproof but boasts blown water and blown sand proof, so ideal for sudden downpours or puddle blasts and been very pleased, so never tried the otterbox option.

It depends on what your personal life/work style is. as to what case is best. no matter what you buy it will mean a compromise of some sort, I use a cheap bumper when socialising to reduce bulk, and the griffin survivor when at work to protect it.

Enjoy you iPhone as once you do you can't stop! :)

I would advise against a "hard case." Because they are designed to hug the devise so tightly, they put quite a bit of pressure on the back glass to the point of bowing it a little. Needless to say, when the glass is under that much stress constantly, it doesn't take much of a bump from the right angle to shatter it. Yes. This is speaking from experience.

I use a clear screen protector on the front and a picture made by Skinit™ of my fav niece on the back. I do not use any kind of "box" protector because Mr. Jobs said not to! I am careful with my phone and have 1 slight nick after 8 months! I use it for work and carry it everywhere I go because I run an IT Dept. I feel that you lose the aesthetics and great feel of the phone with any kind of case. However I did invest in two otter boxes for my nieces who are 10 and 12 year olds. I have dropped my phone a couple of times ( once in the toilet) but never broke a screen. I plan on selling my phone to offset the cost of the iPhone5 so it's in great shape. If I worked around dust or water I would prolly put in in an otter box.

Hey, I really like that you are concern about your iPhone 4. I prefer bumper case, Bumper case give a fantastic boundary finishing to your new Apple IPhone 4 with the iPhone 4 Bumper Band. This iPhone Bumper Band is a very nice accessory for you Iphone 4's protection from sudden jerks and bumps. IPhone 4 Band is a ring which is made up of a fine and flexible plastic and rubber material, the rubber makes the interior of the band and the plastic the outer part. This design of material keeps the IPhone safe and protected.

otterbox all the way i ran over my phone with my car over a month ago works just fine

+1. A bumper isn't the way to go....yeah if you want to look good go for it...I agree with jester

well what is do is get a full cover/wrap for the iphone, i suggest you go with slickwraps. =)
the after that get a good case. i personally have used the otterbox commuter case since my iphone 3g but on my 3g and 3gs ive used the otterbox defender case as well. it provides GREAT protection but the extra bulk wasnt cutting it for me so i went with the commuter. its still lost of protection. and i say get a full wrap for your phone so that way you dont have to worry about messing up the glass and getting starches on the phone.

Not seen those that exert force the back tbh.

The gear4 crystal case is in 2 halves that simply clip together.

the Griffin Survivor is much the same but with a neoprene rubber covering.

Neither offers any untoward stress to the iphone within.
