BlurriedNCBackground will blur the background of your Notification Center. This is on iOS 5 tweak that is free and has a few setting which you can adjust. You can change the blur ratio as well as the pixel size on the background. Having a blurry background will allow you to see what behind the NC tab. There a semi-noticable lag but it's not too bad. The tweak is free and can be found under the Big Boss repo.
