What's new

Before buying a new/second hand device online

don't ask me why please, but I did trade in my iPhone 5 for an iPhone 4s with my daughter. I should've come here first before doing the factory restore, because I didn't restore before signing out of my daughters iCloud account.
to make things worse, I remove the Sim card. Now the phone is all messed up on the Apple screen and I can't turn it off and on.
Do any of you have l do any advive on what I might be able to do?
Thank you.

As it's still connected to her iCloud ID, this is what has to be done:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock Removing a device from a previous owner s account - Apple Support
One of the options suggested on this site should help removing the iPhone from her ID.

To get rid of the Apple logo, reset it after removing it from iCloud. Press and hold Home and Power button at the same time for 8 - 10 seconds. Hopefully it will power up on it's own.

If this doesn't work, use this method to restore it:

Thank you so much. I appreciate your help and will give it a try.

Do you still have the SIM card you removed? You'll need it in the phone to be able to follow J. A.'s advice.
