Audi MMI and iPhone 4 app

Playing iphone music in an Audi is a nightmare. There is no plug in but rather a USB cord that causes the phone to continually have a pop up message "This device is not compatible" causing the speakers to throw back the sound into the phone several times while trying to listen to music. You must press "dismiss" and the speakers will again pick up the sound only to have the message repeat over and over again. Bang and Oleson speakers that cannot be used with your music. Very frustrating.I've searched high and low for answers to get that message to stop popping up but there seems to be no solution.
