Smartphone upgrade programs like AT&T Next and Verizon Edge are all the rage nowadays, basically loaning devices to customers with a small monthly payment. AT&T Next currently offers the Next 12 and Next 18 plans, witch give customers the options to pay off smartphones in 20 and 24 months. At the end of the period, folks can trade in their smartphone in good condition for the latest gadget by only paying the tax.

At the AT&T Consumer Industry Analyst Conference on Tuesday, AT&T announced that the carrier will begin to provide a cheaper Next 24 plan, which allows customers to upgrade every 30 months. Recently we've seen an increase in consumers upgrading every year to the latest iPhone, so 30 months seems like a bit of a stretch for the current market.

The carrier will begin offering the Next 24 plan starting November 9 to all existing and new AT&T customers. What do you guys think?
