Apple is using its new Force Touch technology in the brand new MacBook and the Apple Watch. Now, according to a report coming from WSJ, it seems that Apple is interested in bringing the technology to upcoming iPhone models, as well.

The company plans to add sensors to the iPhone's screen in order to detect how hard a user is pressing. Thus, it will be able to distinguish between a light tap and deep press, thus potentially allocating different functions for them.

The touch technology is one of the changes that Apple plans for the next versions of its iPhones due for release later this year, these people said. Apple isn't changing the size of the displays in the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones and plans to keep the resolution similar, but it may add another color for the aluminum casing of the iPhone, these people said.

According to people familiar with the matter who spoke with WSJ, it seems that a new pink option could be added to the lineup, as well.
