Jailbreakers beware! No sooner has the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1 been released, than Apple launches the first beta of iOS 6.1.1. First off, it’s important to say that anyone thinking of installing the beta should not do so if they want to remain jailbroken. Reporting on the newly released beta, AppleInsider says that one of the main focuses in the update is to improve the Maps app in Japan, and in particular the turn-by-turn navigation in Japan, especially in terms of pronunciation, optimized directions for preferring highways over narrower roads, notifications when drawing near to toll roads, plus labels for junctions, as well as updating icons for locations such as fire stations and hospitals, plus 3D buildings for the likes of Tokyo Station, Japan Imperial Palace, and Tokyo Tower. As AppleInsider notes, Apple is currently experiencing great success in Asia, with revenue rising in China and Japan, up 67% and 25% year-over-year respectively in the December quarter.
