Apple makes a few cases for its iOS devices, but the most part of them come from third-party manufacturers. So if you weren't feeling confident regarding these products, Apple has now launched a new page on its online store called “Tested cases” in order to reassure customers of their quality. Apple says the following on the page:

"Each case design for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch has to go through a series of tests before it reaches the Apple Store. So you can be sure the case you buy is a perfect match for your iOS device."

Apple further adds:

"We analyze how a case fits, so you can still access every button, port, and jack. And a series of drop tests tells us the design is strong enough for day-to-day use."

The new section touts five testing areas: design, camera, acoustics, sensors, and cellular and wireless. Apple has long been known to exert pressure on suppliers to deliver products that meet with its expectations, this resulting in many situations in custom Apple Store-exclusive variants.
