With the advent of the New Year, iOS users were greeted by a particular annoying surprise. As it turned out, the Do Not Disturb sign in iOS 6 malfunctioned and failed to turn itself off automatically, thus inhibiting users from answering calls. It might not sound like the most problematic issue in the world, but it’s surely not enjoyable to miss your mother's call when she’s phoning up to wish you a Happy New Year.

For those really worried about the situation, we have some excellent news. Apple has been notified of the problem and announced today that the bug will resolve itself starting January the 7th 2013. Before this date, users should manually turn on or off the Do Not Disturb feature. To do that, users should tap the Settings functionality then Notification and then Do Not Disturb. From there they can turn it on or off.

The Do Not Disturb feature enables users to silence alerts, calls and notification. Complaints about its malfunctioning started to emerge on forums this Tuesday. The problem however, originated on the evening of the New Year. A Japanese users caught the bug red handed on his iPhone 4 and iPad 2 at 8.30 p.m Eastern Monday night. The feature was first launched by Apple in June and is part of the new list of features embedded iOS 6, and is the first time users ever complained of experiencing any troubles with it.

That's great. Thanks for the posting. I feel this is pretty important and deserved an e-mail from Apple to customers about it.

Today is January the 9th and still no resolution for this bug. Disappointed with Apple's sloppiness.
