I'd like to renew troubleshooting skills I had more than 50 years ago, which I haven't used since then. In particular, it would be good to be able to inject an audio signal on the front-end of some of my gear, especially tape recorders, and read the output on the back-end.

Can't afford real test equipment in my old age, so I'm wondering if anyone is using iOS apps for signal generators and/or oscilloscopes, and of course whether your experience has been good (given fairly limited expectations).

Great question, I'm going to be waiting and watching this one!

I would contemplate using my iPad or iPhone as a signal source (garageband?) but would be wary of using it to directly access signals in case the signal damaged the pad/phone. A few months ago I bought a cheap, somewhat s/w buggy, digital scope/ logic analyser front end for my pc laptop. I don’t know if there is anything similar for ios. As with the previous reply, I will be interested to read other comments.
