According to a new report coming to us via MarketWatch, advertisers prefer to target Apple devices. MartketWatch followed a report put together by MoPub. Compiling the data, it was found that 50% of total mobile ads are directed towards the iOS environment, while the Android one is left into the background.

Even if Android devices are cheaper and might be wider spread, Apple customers are more likely to actually purchase the devices and most importantly are more likely to buy the refreshed line of products. For example, it is estimated that 15% of users using Samsung smartphones do so because they have been awarded the devices after they signed different contracts. Forrester Research analyst Sarah Rotman Epps states:

“These accidental customers are in the lower third of income earners in the U.S.”

Bottom line, the power to buy lies with the high-end Apple lovers and that’s why they are getting more ads.

The study also found that users clicked-through the ads presented to them with a 1.7% rate in March. Broken down into particular devices, the numbers are 1.7% for the iPhone and 2.5% for the iPad. In March, Apple introduced fresh commercials for both products. Android only managed to score 1.1%. The report explains that Apple is also doing the better job at placing ads on the device’s screen so user experience is not diminished in any way.
