A couple questions about iTunes

Hi everyone!

It's been awhile since I've posted but a friend just got an iP4 and had a couple of questions that I wasn't able to answer. Here goes:

1. Is there any way to download apps without having to use a credit card number in the initial set up?
2. Is there any way to download apps from another source other than iTunes without jailbreaking her phone?

Try a gift card. I have heard that you can set up iTunes using one, but I am not positive about that.
