Hello. I have an unlocked iPhone 4S, which was running just fine before I updated to 5.0.1, after which it started giving me the "Invalid SIM Card" message. The 9A406 update did not fix anything.
Can something be done?

I have the same problem. If I turn off mobile data though I don't get the invalid sim error. But if I do turn it on after half an hour then bam "invalid sim".

Have done the restore to build 406, got new sim and everything and have an appointment at the apple store tomorrow.
Will keep you posted.

I've had "SIM failure" only when I turn wifi off though, I also have an appointment at apple tommorow

Either you guys have defective iPhones or your iPhones were not factory unlocked.

in wat wAy do u say it as defective piece.. everything else works just fine. only this happens n very random if havent used for long time like during night times...

i changed my sim , n everything worked fine even battery life seemed good, noticed slight change in sim card alignment, previous sim seemed different design n all those sim with that similar lines didnt work properly. it worked fine for me, others give a try, before exchanging new set.

2nd sim below works fine. never knew lines in sim makes difference. worked for me, others give a try before sending back to apple store .
