Need an app for ordinary membership cards (NOT barcoded loyalty cards!)

djqwikcut asked, "How do you use this? Most stores in my area say you cannot use an app to show your membership card..." Sorry, djqwikcut, I think you've stumbled into the wrong discussion. As I stated in the initial post of this thread [check the thread title, or read more at #1], I was...

Need an app for ordinary membership cards (NOT barcoded loyalty cards!)

I looked at dozens of "organizers" in the App Store, but very few of them are geared to collect and organize plain old membership cards. I found only one, called Card Mate, by Qiwen Zhang, that is designed to do just that. It does not try also to be a credit card saver, or a loyalty card barcode...

Need an app for ordinary membership cards (NOT barcoded loyalty cards!)

Aha! "Organizer"! Hadn't thought to try that word. Yes, I see some that might work. I'll see how many I can afford to try (most aren't free) and report back. Thanks!

Need an app for ordinary membership cards (NOT barcoded loyalty cards!)

My real-life wallet is bulging with plastic membership cards of various organizations (sports and hobbies). Very seldom do I have to show these cards, but occasionally I might have to (or want to) prove that I am a member. It would be nice to have an app into which I could save -- and from which...

How to add set locations for Reminders + Siri

Exactly. As was pointed out in the very first post in this thread, Siri knows what you mean when you say "Home" or "Work" because those locations are associated with you -- they are in your Contact entry (i.e., your "card" in Address Book). And as I said, it would be nice if Siri would look...

Phonetic Last Name causes improper alphabetic sorting in Contacts: an iOS bug

    A. Doesn't make sense to me to insert the phonetic spelling of a person's last name (or even the first name) as a Nickname, which would show up underneath the actual name in any display of that contact. I don't need to see that: I know how to pronounce my friend's name. B. Sometimes inserting...

Correct pronounciation of name/ add words to Siri's vocabulary

Phonetic Last Name causes improper alphabetic sorting in Contacts: an iOS bug

In an attempt (futile, it turns out) to help Siri recognize a friend's name, I added the phonetic spelling* of his last name to his Contact entry. His last name is "Baronas", which Siri interprets as "BARon-us". When I put in the phonetic spelling of "buh ROH nuss", iOS5 immediately re-sorted...

How to add set locations for Reminders + Siri

I agree that it would be great if Siri understood the words as we use them. One would hope that when I say "when I get to Forest Hill", a really intelligent agent would look through all my Contacts, find those that might match what I said ("Hmm. 'Forest Hill Swim and Tennis Club' could be what...

How to add set locations for Reminders + Siri

Here's another subtlety to be aware of: If you follow the instructions above, and Siri says she doesn't understand the location, look at the text of her complaint. If you haven't spelled the location EXACTLY the way she spells it, you must edit the location name to agree with her. For example...
