Not sure. I googled some of the error codes I received and found several posts about the host file and cydia. It could have been any of the 3 steps which gave me a successful jailbreak.

I too experienced the exact same problem. Received same error messages and deleted entries in host file. I could never get custom 4.2.8 to go thru all the way during installation. I was able to install normal 4.2.8 and custom 4.2.7. For now, went back to custom 4.2.7.

Try type the error message in google. If it is the same error message i received you have to delete an entry in the host file on your pc. Fixed for me

Yes. It's a known issue due to a server outage. Tweet in Cydia indicated they can't do anything yet
