The easiest way is to use DROPBOX or other cloud service. If you're panicky, open it up in a video editor and save it as a Quicktime file (though no file extension changes should have occurred)

Hardware not software problem. My ex girlfriend had this issue. The guys at both the Apple and Sprint Repair Center couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. She charged it endlessly and went to get it "repaired". The issue kept popping up. They eventually replaced her phone.
Everyone is raving over the Otter Box case. I personally prefer the sleek flip cases with screen covers. They're more convenient and intuitive. I personally wouldn't spend more than $12 on a case. The brick and mortars will rob you blind. Save money and go on eBay.
