yep these are both bluetooth systems It has to do with certain signals going between the accessory and the phone so you can adjust volume, use skip buttons, answer calls etc. It is needed to run some of the smaller BT stereo headphones. It was not on the previous iphones.

Will the iphone 4 support these??
