Won't connect to iTunes

This one time I was syncing my phone to iTunes on my laptop, and my laptop just shut right off during sync. Maybe from overheat or bad battery, but after I restarted and tried to sync again, iTunes could not read the contents of my phone. And suggested to reset my phone to factory settings. I do not want to reset it and is there a way to get back on iTunes for My iPhone 7

After checking iTunes for an update you could try restarting your phone.
