Will an unlocked IPhone pick up Wifi?

I am new to the world of IPhone...I am on a low level plan with AT&T using an old 3G capable Razr but am not using any data feed.
Can I use an unlocked IPhone 3 just to utilize this AT&T plan and otherwise just use Wifi for web access?

Unlocking simply allows your phone go be used on different carriers. The iPhone picks up wifi regardless of wither or not it's unlocked.

You have to have a data plan to use a smartphone with phone service no matter your plan. However, you can use a smartphone without phone service via wifi. If you are wondering about a "jailbroken" phone rather than an "unlocked" phone (two different things) I do not know. I would wager "no"
