I use the native iPhone app on my 7+. I checked how much memory the Mail app is using and it reported 900meg! Ok, I had 1300 emails in my inbox, so I manually deleted 1280 of them from 2 email accounts, then went into the email trash and deleted them from there. So I have no trash emails in the trash can and 20 emails (no attachments) in my inboxes.

However after deleting all these emails and then delete it them from the trash can, it still shows 900meg memory used!??!

Even tho I only have 20 emails in my inbox, does the iPhone still hold onto the trashes emails for a certain amount of time? I rebooted my iPhone to see if the email memory went down and was purged, but nope.

Any thoughts why my email is taking up so much memory with only 20 emails?

Thanks in advance.

If you delete the email account from the iPhone then add it again that should take care of the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll give that a try!

Don't forget the "Sent" folder. And be sure to delete emails that contain photos, images, and videos. Those take up a lot of storage space.

Never though of that. Will look into my sent folders. Thanks for the tip!
