When I send a text from my iPhone 4s the response goes to my wife's iPad

How do I stop this from happening, so that any response comes just to my iPhone?

Have separate Apple IDs for each device. iMessages is sent to any recipient with a specific Apple ID, so if you have 2 devices using the same Apple ID, iMessages will show up on both devices.

Thanks. What's interesting is that the reply goes only to her iPad, not to my iPhone.
