When I make a call with headphones I get additional sound picked up on microphone

iPhone 4s problem...

Hi everyone.

I go to make a call using my Shure headphones.

When it connects I get a weird amplified sound in-ear and for the duration of the call.

Any ideas as to the cause or remedy?
