Unlocking Spanish iPhone 4 firmware 04.10.01

I was living in Spain and got a contract iPhone 4 with vodafone whilst I was there. I had a dispute with them over the bill and got disconnected. I have now returned to the uk but have a completely useless iPhone. Is there any way of unlocking this phone so I can select which network and use in the uk apart from contacting vodafone in Spain??? Help please

only true way to unlock an iPhone is via the service supplier, they contact Apple tell them to unlock your handset charge a fee, few day later get email, connect to iTunes and phone is unlocked.

all other methods means a fair bit of banging head against a brick walk.
