AppleInsider reports today on a rumor coming from the editor-in-chief of Wired via his Twitter, that seems to point to T-Mobile getting the iPhone 3GS later in the year, but not the iPhone 4. Here's his tweet in full:
"A T-Mobile manager casually mentioned to me that they're goind to get the iPhone 3GS (but not 4, oddly) later this year. Common knowledge?"
AppleInsider also quotes the Silicon Alley Insider as commenting on it being strange that Anderson leaked the story via Twitter rather than in Wired, possibly indicating that the rumour is not that sound. However, as AppleInsider points out, the idea of a partnership between Apple and T-Mobile is not exactly a bolt from the blue, as there have been several reports that the two companies have been talking to each other in an effort to strike a deal in the US (T-Mobile already has the iPhone 4 in the UK), with some Wall Street experts also surmising that a deal between Apple and T-Mobile is actually more likely than a deal between Apple and any other US carrier other than AT&T, because T-Mobile and AT&T both use UMTS/HSPA technology, unlike other US operators such as Verizon and Sprint, who still use CDMA wireless technology, which the current iPhones are not compatible with.
