Spotify Offers $99 Annual Premium Subscription Promo

AppleInsider reports that Spotify has just announced that it is offering a special promotion whereby you can pay $99 for 12 months of Premium streaming, a saving of a little under $20.

The offer runs all the way through until December 31, and is only available if you are starting, or extending your own individual plan. You also won’t be able to pay for it with gift cards or prepaid cards.

This is clearly Spotify’s way of competing with rivals such as Pandora and Apple Music, with Pandora already offering $99 annual subscriptions. Apple Music usually costs $9.99 per month after the 3-month free period, the same as Spotify.

Premium is a pretty good deal on Spotify at this price, because you get to listen without the annoying adverts popping up, as well as being able to play whatever tracks that you want whenever you want, rather than being restricted to Shuffle Play and only being able to skip a certain number of tracks.

Spotify’s announcement also coincides with Taylor Swift’s record-breaking, 2-million-worldwide selling new album “reputation” finally arriving on Spotify and Apple Music internationally some 3 weeks after it was released. Its U.S. launch on Spotify and Apple Music is expected very soon.
