Following on from the Wall Street Journal’s report earlier today about the release of a thinner and lighter iPhone 5 in September, it has expanded on that initial report with some new details from its sources. According to those sources, aside from being thinner and lighter, the iPhone 5 will not be much different to the iPhone 4, but don’t be too disappointed, as there is a “major iPhone revamp” planned for the release of the iPhone 6 in 2012, with development work already well underway on a number of features, including new charging methods. The WSJ also gives further credence to recent talk that Apple is working on a cheaper phone with an edge-to-edge screen. As far as the new charging methods are concerned, the WSJ doesn’t give any further details as to what the new methods might be, but as MacRumors speculates, it could well be that Apple is looking into induction charging, or other wireless charging methods that do not require the iPhone to be plugged in. After all, many third party induction chargers are now available for iPhones and other devices, so it’s no surprise that Apple could be planning to come up with its own official version.
