According to CNBC’s All-America Economic Survey, as reported by AppleInsider, the number of Apple products in active use in the US has increased to 2.6 products per household, up from 1.6 in 2012, with 64 % of all Americans now owning an Apple product.

The in-depth figures even break down the appeal of Apple products in terms of different regions of the country and across different financial statuses. For example, in the south of the country there are 2.2 Apple products for each household, whereas in the west there are 3.7 Apple products for each household. The wealthiest people in the US have 4.7 products per household, and 87 % of those with more than $100,000 in household income have at least one Apple product.

The demographic groups that reported the lowest percentage of ownership of Apple devices were those who had a household income of less than $30,000, retired people, and women older than 50.

Further data reveals that whereas in 2012, 9% of those polled had five or more Apple products per household, in 2017 this figure had risen to 16%.

The survey also examined usage patterns for owners of Apple devices, finding that they are firstly used as communication tools, and secondly for computing or entertainment.

“It continues to be the case that the smartphone is really helping the American worker, helping the American family be efficient with their time and really accomplish more than they could otherwise,” said Jay Campbell, who compiled the survey. “I think people recognise and appreciate that.”
