When I set my ringer to silent, my alarm only vibrates and does not play music.

When I set my ringer to normal mode, my alarm both vibrates and plays music.

Is there a way to have my ringer on silent while having my alarm play music?

Are you referring to the button just above the volume up button on the left side of the iPhone 6? When I switch that switch to silent mode, the alarm only vibrates; it does not ring.

Is the volume on your iPhone turned down?
Make sure you still hear sound before muting the iPhone with the side switch.

My volume is turned all the way up, but when I turn off the ringer using the switch just above my volume buttons on the left side, my alarm does not sound off; it only vibrates.

Which alarm do you use? I've tried this with a few alarms in the built in Clock app, and every time I'm muting my iPhone, I still get the sound from the alarm set up in Clock.

I am using a song on my phone. It works fine when the phone is not on mute.

I was able to resolve this issue by restarting my iPhone. Once I restarted it, my alarms played music as normal even though I had my ringer set to silent.

It's nice when the solution turns out to be so simple.
