AppleInsider reports today that according to new data from Apple’s supply chain, Samsung is getting ready to manufacture enough OLED displays for a projected 55 million OLED iPhone 8 units to be shipped to consumers by the end of 2017.

According to South Korea’s ET News, Samsung is actually having to convert an ASA LCD screen factory to an OLED manufacturing plant in order to cope with the massive demand that is expected when the new phone is announced. Samsung will have to spend $8.8 billion in this year alone in order to sufficiently increase production capacity. If true, this would mean that Samsung will have to spend nearly all the capital that it will make from its contract with Apple.

The same source also says that of the 100 million iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and iPhone 8 units that are expected to be shipped to customers by the end of this year, 55 million will be iPhone 8 units.
