RAW format photos

Is it possible to shoot in RAW with the new 8 megapixel camera? Right now i see no app that does this, and RAW is basically just a dump of every thing the camera sensor picks up, unprocessed right? So would it be possible to make an app that takes this information and sores it? Or would there have to be some new hardware? :camera:

TIFF format would require 32 Megs per picture. iOS 5 and the 4S is about speed. So if it takes a half a second to write 3.5 MB, then you would need about 4 seconds in between each photo. I doubt Apple will ever let that happen.
