Does the iPhone project to tv with the Microsoft display adapter connected to the tv? If so, what app do I need?

As far as I know, there's no app that will allow an iOS device to stream content to the Microsift Display Adaptor.

If your TV has an HDMI connector, an Apple TV would do the job. The third generation Apple TV is selling at a lower price now that the 4th generation Apple TV has been released. It does sell for quite a bit more than the Microsoft Display Adaptor, though. I believe the price is $69.00 US. Apple TV (3rd generation)
