This happened over night I'm on iOS 8.1 and ideas other than restoring ?
Thank you

Well I plugged my phone into iTunes and it showed the 48g in other couldn't figure out how to get rid of "other" so I unplugged it and now my phone shows 45g available so I don't know why plugging into iTunes and unplugging seemed to reset the other issue but for what ever reason it work

The only way to get rid of all that "other" storage is to restore your phone.

Have you gone into Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage to see if you can see any apps that are taking up way more storage than they should? Have there been any apps that have recently started working in the background? Facebook is notorious for working overtime in the background and building up huge data files that show up in "other".

Thank you. Not sure if you saw my last post yet but plugging and unplugging into iTunes seemed to reset it. It was strange because I had not downloaded anything new in a long time so not sure why that happened.
